Your Guide to Getting an Education Visa in Thailand

If you’re considering staying in Thailand for an extended period to study, an Education Visa (Non-Immigrant ED Visa) is a fantastic option. This type of visa allows you to stay in Thailand for up to one year, with extensions, while you learn the Thai language, take part in a cultural program, or enroll in an academic course.
Let’s break down the process step-by-step to help you understand everything you need to know.

Requirements for an Education Visa in Thailand

To apply for an Education Visa in Thailand, you’ll need to meet several requirements. Here’s a list of the essentials:

  • Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry and should have enough blank pages for visa stamps.

  • Letter of Acceptance from a Thai School or Institution: You must be accepted by a recognized Thai educational institution, which will provide you with an acceptance letter. The school must be certified by the Ministry of Education.

  • Proof of Payment for Tuition Fees: The receipt for the tuition fee payment to the Thai educational institution.

  • Completed Visa Application Form: A standard form that you fill out with your details.

  • Passport-Sized Photos: Usually 2 to 4 recent passport-sized photos (4×6 cm).

  • Copy of School Registration Documents: This includes the school’s license and other documents to prove the legitimacy of the institution.

  • Financial Proof: You may need to show evidence of sufficient funds to support yourself while in Thailand, such as a bank statement.

  • Medical Certificate: In some cases, a health certificate may be required, depending on the institution or the country you apply from.

  • Embassy/Consulate Fees: The visa fee is typically around 2,000 Thai Baht (approx. 60 USD) for a single-entry visa and 5,000 Thai Baht (approx. 150 USD) for a multiple-entry visa.

  • Other Supporting Documents: Depending on your nationality and specific circumstances, additional documents may be required.

Our Service Fee: Our comprehensive visa assistance service is priced at 12,000 Thai Baht (approx. 300 USD).
This fee covers everything from the initial consultation to the final approval, ensuring a stress-free process for you.

Post-Application Responsibilities

Once your Education Visa is approved, there are a few responsibilities you must keep in mind:

  • 90-Day Reporting: If you stay in Thailand for more than 90 days on an Education Visa, you are required to report your current address to the Immigration Office every 90 days. We offer a service to handle this for you, priced at 3,000 Thai Baht (approx. 60 USD) per report.

  • Visa Extensions: An Education Visa is initially valid for 90 days. However, it can be extended for up to one year, depending on your course duration. We can assist you in extending your visa for a fee of 5,000 Thai Baht (approx. 150 USD) per extension.

  • Course Attendance: You are required to attend classes regularly. If you do not meet the attendance requirements set by the institution, your visa could be revoked. We help monitor and liaise with the institution to ensure you stay compliant.

  • Re-Entry Permit: If you plan to leave Thailand temporarily, you’ll need a re-entry permit to keep your Education Visa valid. We can help you apply for a re-entry permit, which costs 1,000 Thai Baht (approx. 30 USD) for a single entry or 3,800 Thai Baht (approx. 115 USD) for a multiple-entry permit.
